Introduction

The Transnational Institute (TNI) of Policy Studies envisions a world of peace, equity and democracy on a sustainable planet brought about and sustained by an informed and engaged citizenry.

It carries out radical informed analysis on critical global issues, builds alliances with social movements and develops proposals for a more sustainable, just and democratic world.

History

The Transnational Institute (TNI) was founded in 1974 as the international programme of the Washington DC-based Institute for Policy Studies. For more than 30 years, TNI’s history has been entwined with the history of global social movements and their struggle for economic, social and environmental justice.

TNI needs your support!

For 40 years, Transnational Institute has been at the forefront of research and communications on the critical global issues of our time. With the world in the midst of a convergence of crises – economic recession, global warming, energy wars, food crises – TNI's work is more relevant than ever. Yet to stay independent, we need the support of people like you. Anything counts.

Exposing secretive investment courts. Supporting a historic step on cannabis regulation. Working alongside communities in the South as they seek to regain control of their land. Battling to stop corporate impunity, and to keep water in public hands. These were the highlights of TNI’s 2013 – and yet they only scratch the surface of what we do.
