Professor of Social Sciences at the Universidad Central de Venezuela in Caracas. Member of the editorial board of the academic journal Revista Venezolana de Economía y Ciencias Sociales. Part of the Organizing Committee of the World Social Forum held in Caracas in 2006. Currently part of the of the steering committee of the Hemispheric Council of the Social Forum of the Americas. Participated in the negotiations of the (finally defeated) Free Trade Agreement of the Americas (FTAA) as part of the Venezuelan delegation. Member of the Latin American Social Science Council’s (CLACSO) research group on Hegemonies and Emancipations. Part of the Latin American network on Modernity and Coloniality.
