Bio’s
Mr. Páez Pérez is former Minister for Economic Policy Coordination in Ecuador and currently the President of the Ecuadorian Presidential Commission for the New Regional Financial Architecture - Banco del Sur and Member of the UN High-level task force on the financial crisis (Stiglitz Commission). Professor Páez Pérez is a strong advocator for a New Regional Financial Architecture that is at the service of the people and the environment. Myriam Vander Stichele works at SOMO and is a fellow of TNI. Currently she focuses on the services sector and more specifically on the financial sector, especially in the light of the financial crisis and with particular attention to the liberalisation of financial services through trade agreements.
Wiert Wiertsema coordinates the capital flows program of Both ENDS that focuses on the impacts of capital flows for sustainable development efforts. He has been involved in campaigns on multilateral development banks, climate finance, debt issues, export credit agencies and trade & investment. More recently he is involved in mapping the implications of the latest financial crisis, in particular for developing countries.
