List of TNI events

Event organised in the framework of the World People's Conference on Climate Change and the Rights of Mother Earth

The BASIC countries - Brazil, South Africa, India and China - play a pivotal role in climate change negotiations. Not only are they gaining importance in the world economy and the global governance framework (with their entrance in the G20), they were also essential to the rich countries efforts to cinch the "Copenhagen Accord" in December 2009, derailing months of negotiations within the UN. As rich nations continue to push forward the Copenhagen Accord (with its disastrous consequences for the Earth and humankind), it is essential that social movements come together to share information and develop common strategy vis-à-vis the BASIC countries. This strategy will be an integral part of the movements' overall strategy on the way to COP16 in Mexico and beyond.
