Political Terrorism and the US Imperial Project

ACHIN VANAIK is a TNI Fellow and Professor of International Relations and Global Politics (South Campus) at the Political Science Department of Delhi University, India. Vanaik is an independent journalist writing regularly for various national newspapers and was formerly the assistant editor of the Times in India. He was a visiting professor of Political Science at the Academy of Third World Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia University in New Delhi. He is also a nuclear specialist and has written extensively on India's nuclear policy. In 1998, in the wake of the India-Pakistan nuclear tests, Vanaik co-founded the Movement in India for Nuclear Disarmament (MIND), and South Asians Against Nukes. He is a co-recipient, with Praful Bidwai, of the International Peace Bureau's Sean McBride International Peace Prize for 2000. His latest publication is New Nukes: India, Pakistan and Global Nuclear Disarmament, co-written with Praful Bidwai.

CRAIG MURRAY was the United Kingdom's Ambassador to Uzbekistan until he was removed from his post in October 2004 after exposing appalling human rights abuses by the US-funded regime of President Islam Karimov.

He was born in 1958. He joined the Diplomatic Service in 1984 and served in Nigeria, Poland and Ghana, before being appointed Ambassador to Uzbekistan in 2002. He retired from the Civil Service in 2005. He now lives in London, where he works as a writer and broadcaster.
