On 5 June, the government of Peru launched an extremely violent attack on
the indigenous peaceful protests against 10 legislative decrees promoted
by the Peruvian Government in order to comply with the Free trade
Agreement (FTA) with US that threatens their rights and their environment.

Just one week-and-half after, the European Commission, in a business as
usual mode, moved forward with the Round of Negotiations for a Free Trade
Agreement with Peru, Colombia and Ecuador in Bogotá (15-19 June).

The Indigenous populations of the Peruvian Amazonia started a general and peaceful strike for almost 60 days to protest against 10 legislative decrees promoted by the Peruvian Government in order to comply with the Free trade Agreement (FTA) with US that threatens their rights and their environment. More specifically, the FTA with the US permits oil and mining companies to enter 44 out of 75 million hectares of Amazonian forest, which are Indigenous territories, without any kind of agreement or even consultation.

The Free Trade Agreement or the Association Agreement the European Union is promoting with two of the four countries member of the Andean Community of Nations (CAN) risks the continuity of this bloc, but it also represents a threat to access to medications and health of the Andean peoples.
