Leaving the war on Terror A Progressive Alternative to Counter-Terrorism Policy

As the threat of another war in the Middle East looms, we invite you to join us for an invigorating and engaging discussion on the impact of the War on Terror in Britain and how to promote a progressive, alternative approach to counter-terrorism policy.
Speakers:
- Dr. Rizwaan Sabir is a lecturer in Criminology at Liverpool John Moores University. His research focuses on counter-terrorism, counterinsurgency and political Islam.
- Dr Waqas Tufail is a senior lecturer in Criminology at Leeds Beckett University. His research interests concern the policing, racialisation and criminalisation of marginalised and minority communities and the lived experiences of Muslim minorities.
- Niamh Ní Bhriain coordinates the War and Pacification Programme at the Transnational Institute (TNI), Amsterdam.

The basis for our discussion will be TNI’s latest report, titled Leaving the War on Terror – A Progressive Alternative to Counter-Terrorism Policy, authored by Ruth Blakeley, Ben Hayes, Nisha Kapoor, Arun Kundnani, Narzanin Massoumi, David Miller, Tom Mills, Rizwaan Sabir, Katy Sian and Waqas Tufail.
