Stop Water Privatisation - Alternatives to the PPIAF
The Public Private Infrastructure Advisory Facility (PPIAF) is a little known World Bank office that has funded water privatisation consultants working in 37 developing countries, from Afghanistan to Zambia. Its annual meeting will take place in The Hague on 23-24 May, hosted by the Dutch government, a donor to PPIAF.
Civil society organisations from around the world will meet on 22-23 May to exchange information about PPIAF, and to demand that donors withdraw funding from controversial organisation.
Planned events include: 1. A Forum on donor-lead water privatisation, including: - Analysis of PPIAF as part of the wider World Bank water privatisation strategy - Case studies on water privatisation in developing countries - Discussion of progressive alternatives to the PPIAF approach 2. Demonstration on the opening day the PPIAF meeting - see the video (by Friends of the Earth International)
We need your support to turn the spotlight on PPIAF and to stop donors from expanding its mandate.
