Horizontally structured initiatives, like farmer to farmer partnerships, are more equal forms of rural development than traditional public private partnerships (PPP). They provide equal access to technology and knowledge production, to land and markets.
Dutch pension funds, banks and corporations - and even the government - are implicated in the new wave of land and water grabbing worldwide. This briefing exposes the key players and makes recommendations to prevent further abuses.
Stakeholders involved in PPPs should be more aware of the local livelihoods, cultural and environmental circumstances, in which small-scale farmers produce food (e.g. read the articles of Sylvia Kay (Transnational Institute) [...].
