We at TNI are saddened to hear of the passing away of Miguel Teubal on January 19, 2021. Miguel was one of TNI's earliest fellows, serving for 23 years from 1976, and remained associated since.
The 7th GIZ/TNI Asian Informal Drug Policy Dialogue was organised in collaboration with the National Authority for Combating Drugs (NACD) of the Cambodian Government. Key issues on the agenda were recent trends in the drug market in the region and the development of effective policy responses. Specific attention went to the implementation of the UN Guiding Principles on Alternative Development in the Asian context, including in the implementation of alternative development programmes in conflict areas. The involvement of affected communities in policy making and project implementation was another important theme that was discussed. A major aim of the dialogue was to look at the state of the Asian drug policy before UNGASS 2016.
TNI organises tour throughout Europe with COMadres, a group of Salvadoran women of the Committee of Mothers and relatives of political prisoners, disappeared and murdered of El Salvador.
In the frame of TNI's Central America Project, 600 signatures of European politicians and parliamentarians are publicised, expressing a strong disagreement with the Reagan Administration's policy on Nicaragua.
TNI's work with peasant organisations deepens, with a research project, conference and European tour of peasant leaders to share the perspectives of the agricultural sector in Central America in relation to Europe and its agricultural policies.
