Un paso importante para el gobierno actual y el propósito de terminar con el neoliberalismo y defender los recursos energéticos, sería evitar a toda costa en el TLC con la Unión Europea (TLCUEM), actualmente en renegociación, mecanismos de arbitraje supranacional y asegurar que las trasnacionales europeas se sujeten a los derechos humanos en México.
To end neoliberalism and defend energy resources, the present government of Andres Manuel López Obrador must step up and avoid at all costs the inclusion of supranational arbitration mechanisms in a renegotiated FTA with the European Union (EU-Mexico FTA), and ensure that European transnational corporations are made accountable for human rights violations in Mexico.

El presente libro ofrece una argumentación sólida para mover a la etapa final de la larga lucha para liberar la hoja de coca de su condena y prohibición introducida por la Convención Única de 1961: la apertura del mercado internacional para productos de coca en su forma natural.
Como construcción colonial, el régimen mundial de fiscalización de drogas ha socavado los derechos de los pueblos indígenas (incluido el derecho a la autodeterminación, y a practicar y revitalizar sus tradiciones y costumbres culturales), obligando a todos los Estados a abolir los usos tradicionales de la coca, el cannabis y el opio mediante la erradicación de los cultivos y la aplicación de leyes represivas sobre drogas.
As a colonial construct, the global drug control regime has undermined the rights of indigenous peoples (including the right to self determination, and to practice and revitalize their cultural traditions and customs), obliging all states to abolish traditional uses of coca, cannabis and opium by means of crop eradication and drug law enforcement.

Indeed, the EC is proposing to split the EU-Mexico Global Agreement in three parts: Political and Cooperation; Investment agreement; and Trade Agreement. Splitting the agreement will allow for faster ratification by greater democratic deficit: the parliaments of the member states will not be asked for approval of the trade part of the agreement anymore.
