There has long been a need for a deeper understanding of the intersections of gender, ethnicity and other identities in peace-building and democratisation. Progress on the rights of women and the participation by women’s organisations in conflict resolution and national reform are vital if sustainable peace and democracy are to be built within the country.

Myanmar's National Land Use Policy promises to make profound changes to the current economic, social, and political-institutional landscape. This is an important and bold step, but its impact will depend on how it addresses the often “messy” details of actual land based social relations.
The seventh meeting of the Informal Drug Policy Dialogues in Latin America took place in Montevideo. And centered on the following issues: Micro-trafficking and proportionality of sentences; Challenges to reforming drug policies; Marijuana in Latin America; and Options and debates in international and regional organizations.
The legacy of Darwin is not only the knowledge that there is a biological continuum between the animal and the human worlds, but also that there is a link between culture and nature. If only mainstream economics could learn from the life sciences which Darwin did so much to nourish, it might recognise that you cannot have unlimited growth in a finite world.
