De Nederlandse en Indonesische maatschappelijke organisaties IGJ, Both ENDS, SOMO en TNI stellen dat deze beslissing van Indonesië de aanleiding moet zijn voor een kritisch debat over nut en noodzaak van dergelijke verouderde economische verdragen die landen erg veel schade berokkenen, en die geen bewezen positieve effecten hebben.
