Biopolitical peacebuilding with Seán Brennan
In drawing on core peace theorists and Michel Foucault, Seán Brennan has suggested a focus on biopolitics can innovate human agency to deliver the services required to regenerate communities emerging from violent conflict, by taking ownership of existing policies and resources and creating sustainable regeneration programmes that deliver basic human needs to marginalised and disadvantaged communities.
Biopolitical Peacebuilding is the bypassing of the barriers (human/technocratic) that have prevented people emerging out of conflict experiencing better quality of life outcomes.
Come join TNI and our guest Seán Brennan in a presentation and Q&A session.
August 14 18:30-20:00
Drawing on his experiences of working in North Belfast interface communities, Seán’s Ph.D. research focused on the challenges of reintegrating loyalist paramilitary ex-combatants into a post-ceasefire space. In 2018, Seán was presented with the Basil Chubb Award by the Political Studies Association of Ireland for the best dissertation to emerge from an Irish university in 2017.
