    22 ဒီဇင်ဘာလ အသုံးပြု စကားစု - လအမည် အပြည့်အစုံ 2020
    Article

TNI’s work is in the news almost every working day of the year. Together with our partners, we enjoy wide coverage in national and international news outlets from around the world. Here are some of the highlights from 2020 of which we are particularly proud.

  2. Annual report 2019

    11 သြဂုတ်လ 2020
    Annual report

Dubbed the ‘year of protest’, 2019 saw millions of people take to the streets on every continent.

There was plenty to protest. Deepening inequality, rising cost of living, autocratic governments, discrimination, and the concentration of wealth and power into fewer and fewer hands. Many protests were met with brutal repression, but this did not quell the fight for dignity and freedom.

TNI stood alongside and in support of these movements, as we have consistently done for all 46 years of our existence. We have provided research and logistical support and put forward proposals that can bring about social and ecological transformation. Read more.

    Article

Working on the State of Power 2018 was incredibly interesting and a rare privilege to create art work for such a wide variety of important causes across the world. In these times, the question of popular power or counter-power is riddled with uncertainty. This uncertainty sometimes comes from the lack of new ideas suitable for shaping these times, but more importantly, it derives from the unpredictable nature of the current crisis and tragedy.

    Annual Report 2016

    15 စက်တင်ဘာလ 2017
    Annual report

In 2016, we witnessed the disturbing consequences of permanent war, neoliberal policies and globalization that have unleashed forces that are shaking the status quo at its roots.  Yet while we may seem pessimists of the intellect, we make up for it with our optimism of will! We continue to draw hope from the social movements which doubled their commitment to the realization of the vision and values that TNI holds dear.

  13. Culture, power and resistance

    Article

Amilcar Cabral and Frantz Fanon are among the most important thinkers from Africa on the politics of liberation and emancipation. While the relevance of Fanon’s thinking has re-emerged, with popular movements such as Abahlali baseMjondolo in South Africa proclaiming his ideas as the inspiration for their mobilizations, as well as works by Sekyi-Otu, Alice Cherki, Nigel Gibson, Lewis Gordon and others, Cabral’s ideas have not received as much attention.

    Article

After more than a decade of processes that brought hope to the progressive world, several developments in Latin America in 2016 suggest we have reached the end of a cycle of left-wing victories in the region. This is a crisis that offers pointers and important lessons for us all, about the dynamics of social transformation and about ourselves as activists.

  15. The role of human behaviour in generating plutocracies

    Deniz Kellecioglu
    03 ဇန်နဝါရီလ 2017
    Article

Just as there are mainstream media, mainstream narratives, mainstream academia, and mainstream organizations, so there are also ‘mainstream ethics’. These widespread and established ethical strands assert, for example, that humans are naturally egotistical, competitive and nationalistic and prone to  sexism and racism and other similar mindsets that result in polarization among non-elites and their submission to elites.

  16. White Supremacy as Cultural Cannibalism

    Gathoni Blessol
    02 ဇန်နဝါရီလ 2017
    Article

There is a lens that is largely being ignored and in most cases simply eclipsed in the current attempts to imagine post-capitalist futures. This missing lens signals an evasion of the fact that capitalism is born of white supremacist thinking and domination. In other words, capitalism is inherently anti-black, and relies on the erasure of black lives and futures.

    20 အောက်တိုဘာလ 2016
    Article

Forty years after the car bombing that took their lives, the pursuit of justice for Orlando, Ronni and other victims of the Pinochet regimes continues.
