Mining and Critical Minerals
This topic brings together TNI’s research on mining, critical minerals and the political economy of resource extraction. As demand for minerals grows with the energy and digital transitions, mining is expanding rapidly, often with serious impacts on communities, land rights and ecosystems. Our work examines extractivism, global supply chains, corporate power and the policies shaping mineral governance, while exploring alternatives that prioritise social justice, environmental protection and democratic control over natural resources.
