Francesco Martone (May 10, 1961) is a member of the Executive Committee of the Global Alliance on the Rights of Nature, and a long-term activist involved in struggles for peace, human rights and climate justice.

Francesco is chair of the Judges’ Assembly of the International Tribunal on the Rights of Nature and a founding member of Greenpeace Italy, and co-founder of the arts and activism platform A4C- Artsforthecommons. He was a member of the Italian Senate with the Greens and then with the European Left for 7 years. In 2015 he co-founded In Difesa Di an Italian network in support of human rights defenders that he coordinated until 2020. He is based in Italy and Ecuador. He has worked as policy advisor on climate and indigenous peoples’ rights for Forest Peoples Programme and the Tebtebba Foundation.
