Featuring renowned experts from different countries and continents, the International Seminar "Trends in global education: the impact of governance structures, privatization and digitalization" will promote debates on the right to education from a global perspective.
The event takes place on September 25 and 26 at the Institute of International Relations of the University of São Paulo (IRI-USP).
The event is organized by Andressa Pellanda, general coordinator of the National Campaign for the Right to Education and PhD student at IRI/USP, in line with the theme of her research, and is being held in partnership with IRI-USP, the Faculty of Education at USP, the Centre for African Studies at the University of Porto, and the Transnational Institute (TNI), which is also supporting the seminar.
There will be simultaneous translation into Portuguese, English, and Spanish.

On the first day, the topic to be discussed will be "Global governance today: challenges, power and privatization between international complexity and digitalization".
The first panel will feature academic contributions on the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) in global governance; multistakeholderism in governance of education and in diverse areas; and global education reform.
The second panel will feature contributions from activists on the global perspective of education workers; the next steps for the Transforming Education Summit; the digitalization of education in global governance, and threats to public services.
On the second day, two tables will discuss civil society strategies at regional and national level to guarantee the right to education, specifying the cases of Africa, Asia, Latin America and Portuguese-speaking countries, as well as detailed analyses of Brazil, Chile and Mozambique.
