The Transnational Institute (TNI) is looking for an INTERN for its Binding Regulations Project (4 days a week)

Engage in organising efforts around the thriving United Nations Binding Treaty on Transnational Corporations and Human Rights process, together with social movements, trade unions and other civil society organisations. Learn how to organise political gatherings and do socially meaningful research while engaging with TNI’s diverse and world-wide network.

Would you like to join TNI’s Corporate Power team for four days per week for a five-month internship? We are looking for a dedicated intern who is interested in supporting TNI’s work with the Global Campaign to Reclaim Peoples’ Sovereignty, Dismantle Corporate Power and Stop Impunity, as well as other tasks related to our engagement with the multilateral system and national or regional frameworks to regulate transnational corporations.

Some duties may include:

  • Support with research, drafting, reviewing and translation of activist research, advocacy, training and outreach documents
  • Support with relevant network calls (e.g., take minutes, follow up on agreements)
  • Support the coordination of the 11th Peoples’ Week of Mobilizations in Geneva (e.g., communications, logistics, politics, inside and outside the UN) and other international political gatherings
  • Support the development and printing of marchandising
  • Support the team’s fundraising efforts (e.g. drafting, reporting) related to the Binding Regulations agenda

Requirements:

  • Excellent command of English and Spanish (other languages are a plus)
  • Proactive and creative personality
  • Good interpersonal rapport
  • Politically responsible attitude
  • Based in Geneva or surroundings

Our ideal candidate also has

  • Very good speaking and writing skills
  • demonstrable interest in internationalist politics
  • demonstrable experience with political organization
  • demonstrable interest in TNI’s history and politics

What we offer and hiring process

An internship for 4 months for students, with opportunities to enhance your skills and make a connection between theory and practice. We will work together to find opportunities to provide training and help with your professional development.

Location: online from Geneva area (Switzerland) 

Team: You will work closely with the Frontiers of Capital Program Coordinator (Sol Trumbo Vila), the Corporate Power Project Coordinator (Brid Brennan) and with Project Officers Gonzalo Berrón and Juliana Rodrigues de Senna, as part of the Corporate Power Team. 

Remuneration: € 300,- gross per month all taxes included (32 hours/week with flexible schedule)

This internship will be from August 21st till December 31st.
